We buy water, fizzy pop and beer, wines and spirits in glass bottles from the shop.
We take the bottles home and consume the contents leaving empty bottles.
We collect our empty bottles for recycling
and take them to the local recycling point.
The empty bottles are collected from the bottle banks and taken to our works.
The glass bottles are crushed, cleaned and all waste removed. They are then colour separated.
Some of the glass is used to make more bottles, some is used in tarmac for roadsurfaces and some is turned into Glasstones.
The glass bottles used to make Glasstones are first crushed into small pieces, then 'tumbled' in a big machine for 2 days to remove all the sharp edges. The glass pieces are then dried in a tumble dryer and graded to an optimum size of 8-10mm.
The Glasstones are packaged into Mini-multi packs, 1kg and 2kg Handypacks and 10kg and 20kg Bags for sale to Garden Centres and individuals.
